I’ve been a little absent in my food blogging as things have been busy trying to balance the work – family – exam studying – baby – and hobbies. But the family and I had a chance to sneak away for brunch a few weekends ago, and we went out to downtown Gilbert, AZ to try the new Snooze location.
As to no surprise, we show up on a mid Saturday morning and the front patio is filled with people waiting, and line to check in is out the door. Our wait: 45 minutes to an hour. Fortunately, we were able to play frogged our way across the street to grab a cup of coffee.
The nice thing about snooze is the cell phone paging.
The space feels larger than the town and country location, which at the moment is the only other valley location I can compare it to. Same color and motif, and same mix of character; from the hipster -emo , to the family and brunch group people. The front patio has a few first come first serve seating, which I honestly wouldn’t care for, as you’d be trying to enjoy your brunch and he outdoors with people staring at you, hoping to take your seat. Inside, you’ll find rows of booths and large accommodating tables, equipped with coat and bag hangers on the side. The back patio is inviting with a few outdoor games of cornhole and a mini put golf. You can enter the restaurant from the back, but still having to make your way to the front.
Service was good, maybe 4 out of 5 on this instance. Our server was nice and professional, and made us feel welcomed. Food came promptly and warm. I ordered my usually flight of pancakes, and Justin got the corn beef hash. We also ordered from the kids menu for Maddi, which was more than enough food for her.
Highly recommend for brunch but always expect a wait.
